The Bulgarian passport remains one of the best for international travel in 2025

According to the Henley Passport Index, Bulgaria ranks 13th among the countries with the most desirable passports for international travel. Bulgaria shares its position with Monaco.

The main indicator on which the ranking is based is the possibility of visa-free travel around the world with the respective national passport, and the total number of points indicates the number of destination countries to which one can travel without a visa. In total, the list includes more than 200 countries and territories.

The Bulgarian passport allows you to visit 177 countries without a visa. At the same time, Bulgaria has a visa-free regime with most countries in the world, in 50 countries Bulgarian citizens receive a visa on arrival, there are also countries where Bulgarians need an electronic entry permit.

Holders of a Bulgarian passport must obtain a visa before traveling to only 26 countries.

Singapore tops the ranking with a score of 193 points, followed by Japan and South Korea with a score of 190, and in 3rd place with a score of 189 are Denmark, Germany, Finland, Spain, Ireland and France.

Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Portugal follow with 188 points and occupy 4th place in the ranking.

Greece, New Zealand and Switzerland are in 5th place with 187 points.

Australia and the United Kingdom occupy a respectable 6th place with 186 points.

In the last places are Syria (98th place) with a score of 27 points and Afghanistan (99th place), whose passport allows visa-free visits to only 25 countries.

The top twenty passports with which it is most difficult to travel around the world also include Iraq (30 countries), Yemen and Pakistan (32 countries), Somalia (33 countries), Nepal (38 countries), the Palestinian Territory, Libya, Bangladesh (39 countries), North Korea, Eritrea (40 countries), Sudan, Sri Lanka and Iran (42 countries).
